This Will Be A Day Long Remembered

I first saw Star Wars in late May or early June of 1977 – I can’t remember the actual date.   I didn’t really want to see it.  I wasn’t into Planet of the Apes or Space 1999, which is about all the Science Fiction that I knew at the time.  I was in the third grade and the teachers were on strike.  They took us on a school field trip.  The bus pulled up in front of the Valley Circle Theater and we walked right in.  I’m sure the people who were waiting in line for hours weren’t too happy to see 30 eight year olds cut the line.

The Valley Circle Theater where Star Wars ran for over a year.

The moment that Star Destroyer went over the screen my life changed.  I was hooked forever.

Before leaving the theater I visited the concession stand and bought the Official Souvenir Program.  So, I suppose this is my very first Star Wars collectable.

Despite the fact that it is almost 35 years old and was read over and over by an eight year boy, this piece is still in very nice shape.
